Technical Skills
My development stack includes React, TypeScript, and Spring Boot, supported by HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Java, and Python. I use these technologies to create responsive, accessible, and user‑focused digital experiences.

Ashley D.
Software Engineer
Senior Computer Science student at DePaul University and full-stack software engineer specializing in scalable applications. Outside of development, I enjoy caring for my plants, sketching designs, and taking my dog on long walks. These small routines keep me inspired, creative, and grounded.
Background & Experience
My background includes hands-on engineering experience, student leadership, and a strong academic foundation. Below are milestones across the years:
I began learning web development through The Odin Project, where I built small projects that made coding feel exciting and achievable. This experience showed me I genuinely enjoyed creating things with code — enough to pursue computer science formally.
Serving as President/Vice President for two years helped me grow as a leader and mentor. I created a community where students felt supported, organized workshops, and built the club’s website. This experience taught me how meaningful tech can be when it empowers others.
During my two‑year apprenticeship, I learned real development workflows — debugging, pair programming, and breaking problems into steps. I later converted to full‑time, which became my first official role in tech and gave me confidence in my abilities.
Earning my associate’s degree strengthened my understanding of programming fundamentals and confirmed that I wanted to continue in tech. Balancing coursework with leadership roles taught me discipline, time management, and how to stay committed to long‑term goals.
After building my foundation through self‑study, apprenticeship work, and community leadership, I transferred to DePaul to continue my CS degree. Here, I’ve focused on full‑stack development, UI engineering, and building projects that combine design and functionality. Go Blue Demons!
My Process
I follow a simple, user‑centered process: understand, design, build, refine. This keeps every project focused, intentional, and easy to use.
Understand
I begin by asking clear questions about the problem, users, and goals. This involves identifying pain points, reviewing UI or code issues, and defining success for everyone.
Plan
I break work into actionable steps using TDD, issue tracking, and prioritized debugging to define checkpoints, outline outcomes, and ensure scalable solutions.
Collaborate & Build
I build solutions via iterative testing, pair programming, and team check‑ins. This collaborative method ensures clarity, minimizes errors, and delivers clean, user‑focused results aligned with project goals.
